Wolverhampton Wanderers and SUDU today reveal the 2026/27 Away Shirt and Goalkeeper Away Shirt, the second chapter in The Alchemy of 1877 — the club's 150th anniversary kit campaign.
Where the first instalment landed on the transmutation itself - the moment the metal turns to gold, complementing the club's official Old Gold home shirt - this release steps back to the whitening: the stage in which raw material is purified before it can become something precious. For Wolves, that purity has a specific address: St Luke's, the Blakenhall church school where a group of pupils formed a football team in 1877 and set 150 years of history in motion.
The result is a clean white jersey that carries the club's origin story on the front of the shirt, and a goalkeeper counterpart in a bold seasonal Iolite purple.
Designed with the players who wear it
As with every piece in the 150th anniversary collection, the away and goalkeeper shirts were developed in collaboration with the Wolves first team through a programme of dedicated fit sessions. Player feedback shaped the cut, the fabric behaviour and the finishing details, ensuring the kit performs at the level it is asked to perform at - and looks right doing it.
The colour direction was shaped by supporters. In a club-wide fan survey conducted in March 2025, supporters voted on the direction of the home shirt - and a clear appetite emerged for a white away kit to return to the wardrobe. This release answers that.
2026/27 Wolves Pro Away Shirt
Purity meets performance.
Inspired by the whitening stage of alchemy and the club's origins as St Luke's FC, the clean white jersey features a tonal stripe design in a contemporary, understated finish. The vertical striping is a direct homage to the iconic Umbro designs of 1980–82 and draws on the fan-favourite 1982/83 "Tatung" era, giving a modern edge to a classic Wolves aesthetic.
The Pro version features a high-definition silicone and mesh heat-applied crest for a lightweight, elite feel, applied to a high-performance textured fabric.
For club historian Peter Crump, seeing an archive silhouette rebuilt with contemporary construction is the point of the exercise.
“It is great to see the traditional white away shirt make a return. This is engrained in our history as our traditional away/change shirt. We believe we first wore white in 1890 at Sunderland. Right up until 1990 we saw no other colour as an away or change shirt here at Wolves. It is back for our special year, and I cannot wait to see the players and supporters wearing it. I cannot wait to wear it myself.
This is a modern remake of the away shirt from 1983 to 1986. This is a classic and some of the retro shirts can still be seen today. This shirt is going to be a hit with supporters. I love the collar and the Wolves badge which gives variety to the shirts for this season. White was really the only colour we could have for this special season. Just like the home shirt the supporters have played their part in this after the supporter consultations we had at Wolves Museum. Thank you to the supporters for their help.
